OH MAN, what a weekend of events!!! Here’s just another view from the stands:

PRO 4’s & TRUCKS…it’d be nice if the feature car counts were bigger than most saturday night heat race counts. I heard half the trucks were at another track because the Bud Nat’s were rescheduled, but none the less, it’s hard to get juiced up for a visiting “touring division” that has a 12 car feature.

FEATHERLITES: I can’t believe I hear bad things about these guys!!! They are the oldest active division in auto racing’s premier sanctioning body (NASCAR) and for the ‘bowl to have them hear once, never mind twice is pretty cool…I think over half there schedule is run at the 3 CT tracks. If I could ask the speedbowl to learn one thing from these guys, it would be to see how efficiently they run their races…(compare their sat race to the dismal SK 3 hour fest) Speaking of which…

TOM FOX: Don’t know the man, don’t like or hate him, but seems odd that such an experienced championship caliber veteran makes a bonehead manuever. And what happened to the rule that you can’t work on a race car under RED. Seems unfair to a team stuck on the front stretch, that Fox can get so much work done when no one else can. And I agree, the provisional logic for Moose over Wendall makes little sense. We need guys like Wendall Dailey. I don’t ever remember him being too competitve, but his car always looks sharp, and he’s obviously in racing more for his love of the sport than his chance to win. And I think he does most of the operation himself too! “Racing not a sport, it’s a disease” indeed…

LATE MODELS: Oh my, what a race before the last caution. Diego, Corey and Allen putting on a show!! And as a fan, that’s what it’s all about. I’ve both cheered and booed all 3 of them at one point over the last few years and I personally didn’t care who won, but then a SINGLE FILE RESTART!!! Are they serious??? As you may have heard me scream when they signaled for it, they just SUCK! What a joke! It’s one thing if the leaders continually get out to a spacious follow the leader run as wrecks beyond the top ten keep holding up the show, but these 3 were running hard and what could have been a great G-W-Ch finish of side by side racing turned into…well you saw it. If they were trying to cool tempers and aggressive driving (’cause they were banging!!) by having a single file restart…well, looks like that not only backfired, you robbed the fans, who sat through two hideously long delays in the windy cold, of what could have been the best finish of the night. Just a dumb decision by track officials on how to end it.

SPORTSMAN: I don’t know, this division seems to be missing the excitement it once had…Diego, Corey, Moose and Shawn, love ’em or hate ’em, they sure put on a show. Shawn’s obviously strugglin, and without Dupree and Adam Smith, seems as if champions don’t defend their title anymore in this division. Since Pont & Perry more and more mini guys skip this whole division now on their way up the ranks (Plemens & Thomas, Silva & Diego didn’t stay long) …the best action of the night seems to have switched from the sportsman to the LM’s.

NEMA: still can’t get into them…

STAT OF THE WEEK: Ashaway Performance Engines: 1 car, 3 races, 1 win. Way to build a winner NORM!!! Good job Rich and Crew….

Thanks for the outlet….
